Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Packing Party

On Friday, November 15, Chicago HBF had an amazing opportunity to host an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Packing Party. Operation Christmas Child is an all-age service project with a mission to share God’s love through a simple shoebox filled with gifts. These boxes are far more than gifts. Each box enables us to reach children worldwide with the news of Jesus Christ and the true meaning of Christmas.  It opens up a world of life-changing opportunities for each child, their family, and their communities.

Thus, HBF’s vision and purpose for the Shoebox Packing Party:
Inner Fellowship and Community Building
Through a service project, HBF members and leaders are able to better create unity and fellowship through Operation Christmas Child. Through this one even, we are able to expose the students to needs of other communities and begin to pray for the salvation of the kids who will be receiving the shoeboxes.
Local High School Outreach
The High School students will have an opportunity to tangibly express their faith personally with their friends through inviting their friends to this event. Not only does a shoebox carry a tangible expression of love and compassion, it also carries the message of Jesus. Jesus love is just not limited to those receiving boxes, but his love is also meant to touch the even high school students here in Chicago! Jesus’ love has no bounds, and current HBF members will have an opportunity to share with their friends about receiving the greatest gift of all- Jesus Christ himself.
Making a Difference around the World
Through giving shoebox gifts, HBF will impact, empower, and open up opportunities for churches overseas to share the Gospel.

By God’s grace, the event went extremely well and Chicago HBF students and leaders packed a total of 45 shoeboxes!  Praise God!  Thank you to the parents for your prayers and support.  Let’s pray that our HBF students remember Jesus- the greatest gift of all.

Operation Christmas Child

Dear Parents,

In five weeks on November 15, 2013, your child will participate in an Operation Christmas Child
shoebox packing party hosted by HBF. Operation Christmas Child started in 1993 through Samaritan’s Purse, a non- profit organization founded by Franklin Graham. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has been handing out more than 100 million shoebox gifts to children in Jesus’ name to children all over the world. We hope that you partner with us as we empower our youth with the message of Jesus Christ, and encourage them to invite 3 High School Friends to share the good news at this event.

We also need your help to make this event a success.

This is how it will work: Your child will choose how many boxes they would like to pack (atleast 3 is recommended). Below is an itemized list of what to bring on that day. Please buy the necessary quantity for each box. (For example, if I decide to pack 4 boxes, I would buy 4 toothbrushes- 1 toothbrush for each box). These are gift suggestions, so please do not feel limited by these. For more info, click here.

• Friday, October 18- Shoeboxes (Regular Size shoe boxes, no large ones please!)

• Friday, October 25- Toys! Dolls, Toy Trucks, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump
ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries) ,etc.
